VISAKHAPATNAM: The power utilities of Andhra Pradesh are hopeful that the power supply situation will improve by the first week of May. According to officials, shortage of coal supplies has led to the power shortage in the country. The thermal power plants account for more than 50 per cent of the country's total power capacity.
The grid officials explained that the discoms supplied 208 million units of electricity on April 23. Energy demand on the same day last year was 193 MU. The peak demand met so far in April 2022 has been 12,293 MW, registering a 6 per cent growth against 11,570 MW demand recorded in April 2021.
