Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demonstrated his lack of administrative acumen by imposing various untimely taxes and implementing a hike in power tariff, Jana Sena Party Political Affairs Committee chairman Nadendla Manohar said on Friday,
Mr. Manohar, the party’s PAC member Pantham Nanaji and its East Godavari district president Kandula Durgesh, and other leaders from the Godavari region, held a demonstration outside the Collectorate against the hike in power tariff as part of a Statewide protest on Friday.
“The Chief Minister is imposing various taxes at a time when the common man is struggling to rebuild his life that was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent policies of the State government reflect his lack of administrative abilities,” Mr. Manohar said, adding that the taxes and hike in power tariff were ill-timed.
Poll promise
“Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy should recollect his poll promise of offering free electricity up to 200 units per month to the poor. The hike in power tariff is a move to cheat the people in order to meet the revenue generation targets,” added Mr. Manohar.
The JSP leaders have demanded that the State government roll back the power tariff hike and free the poor from the additional burden in the form of new taxes. Mr. Manohar and other leaders submitted a representation to District Revenue Officer Ch. Satti Babu at the Collectorate in this regard.
