The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC) is in advanced stages of creating facilities in 11 MSME Parks out of 31 proposed to be developed across the State. These works are poised to be completed in three to six months.
The 11 MSME Parks are coming up at Gurrampalem (Visakhapatnam district), Palamaner (Chittoor), Rapthadu (Anantapur), Ragamukkalapalli (Prakasam), Kongavanipalem (Srikakulam), Peddapuram (Kakinada), Molakaladinne (Chittoor), Kothapalli Korugunta (Nellore), Kotipi (Anantapur), Kappalabanda (Anantapur) and Brahmanapalli (Kurnool).
At present, APIIC has a total land bank of 50,964 acres, which includes the largest ones at Nellore (10,801 acres) and Visakhapatnam (10,059 acres).
Due importance is given to creating infrastructure in Nakkapalli, Rambilli and Kopparthy nodes, all of which fall in the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC), Krishnapatnam node in Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and at Orvakal in Hyderabad-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (HBIC).
Another thrust area is the provision of assured water facilities, mainly to the Orvakal (Kurnool) and Kopparthy (Kadapa) industrial nodes, which are being aggressively promoted by the government as ideal investment destinations.
A sum of nearly ₹750 crore is being spent on external water supply in the initial phases in the two nodes.
The Orvakal node which is situated in HBIC got a sanction for ₹825 crore for the water facility and works costing ₹420 crore are in various stages of execution. Water for this node is planned to be tapped from the Mucchumarri project.
Pipelines are being laid for the Kopparthy node (located in VCIC) for drawing 46 million litres per day from Brahmasagar reservoir.
Speaking to The Hindu, APIIC chairman Mettu Govinda Reddy said there was tremendous scope for investments at Hindupur, Kopparthy, Srikalahasti, Orvakal, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam. Accordingly, emphasis has been laid on creating infrastructure in those places.
Efforts were being made to attract investments in the APIIC Mega Food Park at Mallavalli in Krishna district, where a core processing centre was set up for the convenience of the small and medium scale industries.
Common effluent treatment plants were being set up at huge costs to comply with the pollution norms. Efforts are being made to allot land in just a few days, for which the processes are being streamlined, it is learnt.
