Andhra Pradesh: Govt. should scrap CPS as promised by Chief Minister, demands teachers’ outfit

Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation Vizianagaram district president D. Eswara Rao on Tuesday urged the State government to scrap the Contributory Pension System (CPS) at the earliest, citing the examples of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh which have reportedly assured restoration of the old pension system which was in force till 2003.

APTF organised an agitation at the Vizianagaram Collector’s office seeking to step up pressure on the government for the restoration of the old pension scheme, which they said would ensure social security with the payment of a decent pension to retired employees and their spouses.

Mr. Eswara Rao said thousands of employees were anxiously awaiting the announcement of the State government regarding the scrapping of CPS, as was promised by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during his Statewide padayatra taken up before the 2019 Assembly elections.

APTF also organised an agitation near the Parvatipuram Collector’s office to ‘highlight the plight of employees who are covered under CPS’.
