VIJAYAWADA: In a sudden move, the AP government on Tuesday transferred director-general of police (DGP) Damodar Gautam Sawang and appointed director-general (Intelligence) KV Rajendranath Reddy as the new DGP and head of the state police force.
Rajendranath Reddy, who hails from Kadapa district, will hold the full additional charge of the DGP till the Centre formally clears the appointment. The state government will now send a panel of senior IPS officers for the coveted post for approval by the Centre.
