AMARAVATI: The state government has put the reorganisation of districts on fast track and decided to complete the bifurcation and allocation of employees to the new districts by March 10.

Ahead of finalising boundaries of new districts, the state level committee started taking stock of grievances, complaints and representations received in the districts with district collectors on Wednesday.

The committee held discussions with district collectors V Prasanna Venkatesh (West Godavari), J Nivas (Krishna), Vivek Yadav (Guntur) and Pravin Kumar (Prakasam) who attended the meeting held in Vijayawada.

This is the first of a series of sessions to be held with district collectors over the next week. Chief secretary Dr Sameer Sharma interacted with district collectors via video-conference while CEO of planning department, GSRKR Vijay Kumar, went through the presentations made by the collectors.

Speaking to the media, Vijay Kumar said that they have decided to complete the reorganization of the employees by March 10 to enable the launch of new districts as per the schedule set by the chief minister. "Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted that administration should start from the new districts from April 2. We are gearing up to meet the deadline," said Vijay Kumar.

He said that the government would certainly look into the genuine demands of the public about the reorganization of the districts. He said that they were looking into every representation in order to find a solution.

He said they have discussed the infrastructure readied in the proposed new district headquarters and revenue divisional headquarters. He said they wanted to set everything ready by March 10 and submit the detailed report to the state government.

"The state cabinet would take the final call on making changes to the boundaries or headquarters of the districts as per the demands of the public," said Vijay Kumar.

Survey and settlement commissioner Siddarth Jain, ZP CEOs and several other senior officials were also present at the meeting.

Krishna collector said that about 300 representations were received to name Krishna district after NTR. He said that many requests were also received to keep Penamalur and Gannavaram in Vijayawada district.

The state government had in fact decided to name Vijayawada district after TDP founding president and the late CM, NTR. Guntur collector said that many people requested to name Palnadu district after Dalit poet Gurram Jhashuva and make Gurazala as district headquarter instead of Narasaraopet.

Prakasam district collector said there are demands for creation of a new district for Markapuram and retaining Kandukur in Prakasam district. Kandukur, which was part of Prakasam in the past, was merged in Nellore district in new arrangement.
