The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Government will introduce thrombolytic therapy for needy patients in all the public health centres across the State in a month’s time, YSR Aarogyasri Special Officer Dr. Yadala Ashok Babu said on Tuesday.
The government was keen on making cardiac care available to a majority of the people by making blood thinner medicines available in the 1,444 PHCs, including the 151 new ones set up by the State government, before referring them to empanelled super-specialty hospitals for advanced treatment under the health scheme, Dr. Ashok Babu told reporters on Tuesday. Fatal blood clots had increased post COVID-19, he added.
A kidney research centre would also be set up shortly to provide advanced medical care to chronic renal failure patients requiring dialysis in Prakasam district, he said.
He said from a mere 1,059 procedures and 912 empanelled hospitals during the previous Telugu Desam Party regime, the number of procedures had gone up by leaps and bounds to 3,257 procedures and 2,293 empanelled hospitals, including 204 network hospitals outside the State in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai to provide advanced medical care to needy patients whose incomes were less than ₹5 lakh, as compared to medical treatment which was restricted only to BPL card-holders under the previous Chandrababu Naidu regime.
Advanced treatments like heart transplant, bone marrow transplant and treatment of cancer of any body part were now available under the health scheme to 1.42 crore card-holders, he explained. Coupled with the health scheme, the introduction of the family doctor concept enabled health benefits to the patients at their doorstep by doctors through 10,032 Dr YSR Village Health Clinics free of cost, Dr. Ashok Babu said.
The government would seek accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers for all government hospitals by upgrading infrastructure under the Nadu Nedu scheme, and will provide medicines to patients as per World Health Organisation (WHO) standards, he added.
