Cynthia Nixon has heaped praise on the producers of And Just Like That for their handling of Kim Cattrall's absence.
The actress, who plays Miranda Hobbes on Sex And The City series and movies, said the show dealt with the situation "head on" after Kim refused to take part in the reboot with her co-stars.
Speaking to chat show host Andy Cohen, 53, Cynthia said: "I thought it was great. I mean I have to say I love how we addressed it head-on in the first minute."
Andy agreed with the 55-year-old who continued: "And then I loved how there began to be layers of it.
"There's the thing you tell Bitsy Von Muffling and then there's the way you talk about it amongst each other.
"And I have to say, spoiler alert for any of you who haven't seen it yet, but I felt like the flowers at the funeral were just. And I love how, you know, we keep checking in with her from time to time. I love that."
Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the iconic series, declined to revisit the much-loved series with her co-stars.
Years before the release of And Just Like That Kim told the Daily Mail about where she stood on rejoining the cast for a Sex And The City 3.
"Never. It's a no from me,” she insisted.
"You learn lessons in life, and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun.”
During an interview on Piers Morgan's Life Stories she said: "Me playing [Samantha], that I can assure you will never happen.
“This isn’t about more money. This is not about more scenes. It’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I’m 61. It’s now."
Over the years there have been rumours about feuds between Kim and her co-stars.
There was a large pay disparity among the cast, with Sarah, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, earning lot more as she was the lead character and a producer.
Kim wanted more money for her work and the argument with the producers became very public.
The salary negotiations even put a delay on the filming of the SATC movie.
Speaking of her relationship with SJP, Kims told Piers Morgan: "We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues, and in some ways, it’s a very healthy place to be."
Andy asked about Cynthia's non binary love interest in the show, asking if she thought that Che Diaz's character was funny.
"I and Miranda think it is," Cynthia giggled.
Speaking about Steve's treatment on the new show, Andy asked the actress if she understood why fans were upset.
She said: "I have to say that's the thing about break ups,"
"Oftentimes there's one person who is making the break up happen and the other person who is reluctant. She said the person who is reluctant is also usually pretty miserable too and just not admitting it."
Cynthia also defended the show after it was branded 'woke' by loyal viewers of the original series.

"We were in our early 30’s when we started, we are 55, 56 now. And the world is very different. I wanted to be sure, and I think we all wanted to be sure that when we went back we could save a lot of what was great about the original and fix what was maybe not so great," she said.
"Like the fact that it was such an overwhelmingly white show. That we would really open up the door and invite these new characters in and really do right by them so we could get great actors and actresses to play them."
