The New England Patriots brought James White back on a two-year, $5 million deal this offseason. The 30-year-old is coming off a season-ending hip injury, which would scare Bill Belichick away from making the commitment in most scenarios. But, this isn’t most scenarios and White isn’t a player that’s replaceable in the locker room.
He’s had an incredible run over eight seasons with the Patriots, while slowly emerging as one of the most trusted leaders on the team. Also, White is one of the best pass-catching running backs in the entire NFL. He has 381 catches for 3,278 yards and 25 touchdowns in the regular season over the past eight years.
His contract is riddled with incentives, just in case he can’t overcome the injury and get back to his old self on the field. Let’s dive into the terms of this deal.
