The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
The Bears will be without three defensive backs against the Broncos: Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, safety Eddie Jackson and cornerback Josh Blackwell. Simply put: Things could get ugly on Sunday.
Buy Bears TicketsOn the Broncos side, outside linebacker Frank Clark (hip), inside linebacker Josey Jewell (hip) and defensive tackle Mike Purcell (ribs) have been ruled out. Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy will be good to go.
Here’s a look at the Bears’ final injury report heading into Sunday, with analysis:
Out
- CB Jaylon Johnson
- S Eddie Jackson
- CB Josh Blackwell
The Bears secondary has taken another brutal blow as they’ll be without three players — including two starters — against the Broncos. Johnson suffered a hamstring injury in last Sunday’s game, which held him out of practice all week. He’s already been ruled out. Jackson missed last week’s game with a foot injury suffered in Week 2, and he didn’t practice all week again and won’t play Sunday. Meanwhile, Blackwell reaggravated a hamstring injury last week, which kept him out of practice for the week. He’s been ruled out.
Questionable
- RB Travis Homer
Homer landed on the injury report this week with an ankle injury. He was limited during Thursday and Friday’s practice, and he’s officially questionable for Sunday against the Broncos.
Removed from injury report
- CB Tyrique Stevenson
- TE Marcedes Lewis
Stevenson suffered an illness in last Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs. He’s been a full participant in practice all week, and he’s good to go against the Broncos. Which is a good thing considering Chicago is already down several starters in the secondary. Lewis had a veteran rest day on Thursday, and he’s good to go.
On injured reserve/PUP list
LT Braxton Jones: Jones suffered a neck injury in the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Bucs, and he was placed on injured reserve this week. Jones will miss at least the next four games and is eligible to return in Week 7 against the Raiders. Matt Eberflus wouldn’t say if it’s a season-ending injury.
CB Kyler Gordon: Gordon suffered a hand injury in Chicago’s Week 1 loss, which landed him on injured reserve. He’ll miss at least the next four games and is eligible to return in Week 6 against the Vikings.
LG Teven Jenkins: Jenkins was placed on injured reserve with an unspecified leg injury. Jenkins will miss the first four games and is eligible to return in Week 5 at the Commanders on Oct. 5.
C Doug Kramer: Kramer, like Jenkins, landed on IR with an undisclosed injury. He will miss the first four games and can return in Week 5 against Washington.
DL Khalid Kareem: Kareem was placed on IR with a hip injury. He’ll miss at least four games and is eligible to return in Week 7 against the Raiders.
