Ana de Armas wows fans with stunning Marilyn Monroe transformation for upcoming biopic film

Ana de Armas has wowed fans with her stunning transformation as Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe for the upcoming Netflix biopic film.

The first teaser for Blonde, which is set for release on September 23, saw the Cuban actress, 34, go blonde for the iconic role.

The film is based on Joyce Carol Oates' 2000 best-selling novel of the same title and is the streaming service's first NC-17 rating for an original film due to some graphic sexual content.

De Armas, who has starred in films such as No Time To Die, Knives Out and Deep Water, looked unrecognisable as she portrayed the 1950s sex symbol.

The Cuban posted a teaser of the film on her Instagram account, which has 6.8 million followers, with the caption: "First look - BLONDE teaser" followed by a black heart.

At the start of the trailer she is seen sobbing as she looks in the mirror while having make-up applied, saying: "Please come. Don't abandon me." Her make-up artist tries to reassure her by saying "she's coming".

The teaser then pans to De Armas posing in the iconic subway scene from 1955 hit film The Seven Year Itch and shots from the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, filmed in 1953, before Marilyn looks distressed as she is mobbed by crowds of press and fans.

A slow version of Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend is played throughout the teaser, which returns to the initial scene of Marilyn in front of the mirror with her make-up artist insisting "she's coming. She's almost here."

She then smiles as she looks at her reflection in the mirror before laughing, showing Marilyn's erratic behaviour.

De Armas also shared photos from the film in a separate post and opened up about the vision her and director Andrew Dominik had in the movie.

She wrote: "BLONDE. What a beautiful dream!

"Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start — to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens.

"He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane.

"I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen."
