An Post is appealing for charitable donations following the major earthquake that took place in Turkey last weekend.
Cash and card donations made through the postal service will not be subject to transaction fees, in order to support those affected by the natural disaster. All donations will be used to provide medical care, food and other urgent supplies.
People can make a donation to charities working in the area, such as Concern, GOAL, Irish Red Cross and UNICEF Ireland, through their local post office. An Post branches are open on a Monday to Friday basis, as well as on Saturday mornings, for those wishing to donate.

A spokesperson said: "An Post and Postmasters have waived the fees normally payable for such transactions so the entirety of donations will go to the customer’s preferred charity. The immediate international appeal is for cash donations- simply visit your local post office and ask to make a donation at the counter."
The earthquake, which measured a 7.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale, has devastated countries such as Turkey and Syria. The death toll most recently surpassed 15,000, with numbers expected to rise.
Dubliners quickly responded to the news of the disaster by launching a fundraiser on Sunday. The Go Fund Me has raised an impressive €25,625 to date, will all proceeds going towards assisting the victims.
