An Post has announced plans to raise the cost of domestic stamps from €1.25 to €1.35.
The price increase will come into effect in February. However, the cost of both international and digital stamps, which were introduced in late 2022, will remain unaffected by the change.
An Post says that the increase falls in line with rising inflation. They said in a statement that the additional cost will reflect the "true cost" of maintaining a nationwide postal service, as traditional letter volumes continue to fall.

The postal service announced a previous cost increase in March last year, which saw the price of national stamps go up by 15c. Additionally, the cost of sending a letter abroad ramped up by 20c to €2.20.
An Post has previously stated that its prices fall below the European average, which now stands at €1.69. It was also confirmed that registered post and large envelopes would go up in cost, depending on service and dimension.
The cost of an international stamp will remain at €2.20, while the digital stamp stands at a set rate of €2. The digital stamp was first introduced in October, granting customers instant access to stamps via the An Post app.
