A boy came down with an adenovirus infection, the kind of ordinary seasonal bug that usually means nothing more than a few days of fever and a sore throat. During the fever he began hearing voices that were not there. The voices persisted after the fever broke and slowly faded. Then his eyes started playing a different trick, and objects around him stopped holding their size.
A physician in Japan reported it as the first published case of Alice in Wonderland syndrome following adenovirus infection, in BMJ Case Reports.
