A 40-year-old woman waiting for a PET/CT scan was anxious. While the radioactive tracer circulated through her body, she walked around and wrung her hands. When the images came back, her forearms, hands, lower legs, and feet were glowing, as if she were wearing bright cuffs and boots.
Nuclear medicine specialists at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi published the image this spring in the Indian Journal of Nuclear Medicine under the title "The Fruit of Labour: 'Wonder Woman' Sign on 18F FDG PET/CT." The authors wrote that the pattern was "reminiscent of the forearm bracelets and boots worn by Wonder Woman, a fictional comic character."
