The mother of a young Scots footballer who tragically died after a crash on the M8 has described him as the "perfect boy".
Asher Tumwijukye, 19, was driving home from visiting a friend in Edinburgh when he was involved in a collision with a lorry at around 1.10am on Saturday.
Sadly, Asher could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Heartbroken mum Juliet said: "Asher was never any trouble, he was the perfect boy. He was so caring and loving. He rarely did anything wrong and always tried to be home on time.
"He grew up to be the most beautiful boy. He was the best brother and the best son. He helped out with the bills and loved to spoil his siblings. He was an all round angel."
Asher was said to have deeply loved mum Juliet, dad Joseph, sister Alvita and brother Aaran, who are all devastated by the loss and miss him immensely.
The 19-year-old was studying sports and physiotherapy at the City of Glasgow college and had big ambitions of opening his own clinic one day.
Asher had been visiting close friend Esther Akeju, 19, in Edinburgh where she studies at university the night he passed away.
Esther told the Record: "Asher was generous, kind and a sweetheart. He was willing to do anything for anybody. He was was willing to donate the time and the effort.
"He was like a comedian really, if you knew him there was no way he wouldn't make you laugh.
"It doesn't feel real, he was here and now he's not. He had such an impact on all our lives, he was so intertwined with our lives as we were his. He can never be forgotten.
"He left an indelible mark on all those who knew him, making our world a better place through his kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit.
"We will keep his memory alive in our hearts forever."
A fundraising page set up by Esther has now raised over £8,000 towards Asher's funeral. Donations can be made by clicking here.
Loved ones are also planning a memorial football tournament in his memory on Saturday, April 8 at Robroyston Park.
Asher's former football club West Park United also paid tribute to the goalkeeper.
They said: "Asher played with distinction as Goalkeeper with our 2004’s team from March 2019 to May 2021, where his academic talents took him to university.
"A young man who loved life and life loved him right back has been taken too soon. A young man who made many friends in his brief time with us and who will be sorely missed. Shine bright on your journey Asher, shine bright."
