An all-day café, bar and street food venue is coming to Canton's The Bone Yard next month. TwentySix will open in the former site of the much-loved Dusty's Pizzeria, which was forced to close at the end of last year due to significant financial losses.
Opening at the end of February, the new café will be called TwentySix, inspired by owner Helen Gorman's nephew's birthday. The venue promises to host all-day brunches and speciality coffee from 8am Wednesday through to Sunday in one of the site's eye-catching shipping containers.
Alongside brunches, TwentySix will also host several street food vendors as well as a selection of wines, beers, cocktails and spirits for the ultimate dinner or boozy brunch. Get food and drink news straight to your inbox by subscribing to our dedicated newsletter here.

And while the café itself is new to the area, its owner is no stranger to Cardiff's hospitality industry. Helen Gorman founded Bad Boy Brownies in 2019, which has previously traded out of The Bone Yard. She then took on a second delicious dessert business, Pwdin, on the road at festivals and various events in 2022 including at some of Street Food Circus' events including Merthyr Mawr's Forest Feastival.
Away from sweet treats, Helen also runs a pork-focused street food pop-up called Cracklin' and serves up 'cult breakfasts' with her fourth venture Toast, which currently trades out of Canton's much-loved Corp Market.
Adding another business string to her deliciously versatile foodie bow, TwentySix will act as Helen's permanent home for Toast and will serve items such as American pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup, sourdough toast with harissa butter, poached egg and halloumi and vegan breakfast enchiladas, among others.
Speaking of her new venture, she said: “I’ve been in the pop up/street food business for the past few years, doing all of the usual festivals and pop ups and kitchen takeovers – but I always had it in my head that one day, there would be a permanent venue for me. When this opportunity came up, it just felt like the time was right.
"I named the venue after my nephew’s birthday as it’s a date that’s meaningful to me; now I can’t wait to get TwentySix open.”
Once open, it seems punters are in for an extra treat as already lined up for its pop-up street food rotation are a host of award-winning traders whose following in the last year or so has boomed. Expect names like Keralan Karavan, Fire & Flank, Kapow Ribs, Reaper, Ringo’s Dirty Diner, The Rock & Scallop, Pasta Al Sugo, Laksa Shack, Franks Hotdogs and Bao Selecta.. What a combination.
And if opening a brand new restaurant wasn't enough, Helen is planning to start up a new, monthly market - together with Richkin's Woodcraft's Martyn Watkins - at The Bone Yard called 'The Boneyard Bazaar' which will celebrate local art, crafts, street food, fresh local produce and more. Its first market is set to take place on Saturday, March 4. For more information and updates, see TwentySix's Instagram.
