The woman who was once caught in a widely reported love triangle with Amy Winehouse and her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been found dead at her home, with police treating the death as unexplained.

Sarah Aspin, 47, was discovered at a property in Swillington, Leeds, after officers were called in the early hours of Saturday morning following a concern for her safety. Paramedics attended the scene but she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing. A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to an address in Primrose Hill Drive at 6.38am on Saturday 7 February. A woman was treated by paramedics at the scene but died a short time later. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.”

Ms Aspin became publicly known after forming a relationship with Fielder-Civil following the collapse of his turbulent marriage to Winehouse. The pair reportedly met while in rehabilitation in around 2009 and later had two children together. They are understood to have separated in 2018.

Tributes have since poured in from family members. Ms Aspin’s daughter, Melody-Rose Hampshire, wrote online: “No words at all. Love you so much mum. May you rest in eternal peace my beautiful mum. Doesn’t seem real. I just want you here so I can speak to you.”

Sarah Aspin previously said Blake Fielder-Civil had been left ‘devastated’ by his ex Amy Winehouse’s passing (PA)

Her cousin Leanne Eastwood also shared a message, writing: “Sweet dreams to my beautiful cousin Sarah Aspin. Hope you finally found peace. Till we meet again.”

Neighbours described seeing emergency services at the flat from early Saturday morning. One resident told the MailOnline that police were at the address from around 8am, adding that a body bag was later removed from the property. Another neighbour said the incident had “rocked” the normally quiet community.

Several residents said Ms Aspin lived alone, though she was believed to be in a relationship at the time of her death. It is understood that a person was arrested over the weekend, though police have confirmed this was not in connection with the death.

Flowers have since been left outside the property in tribute.

Ms Aspin previously spoke publicly following Winehouse’s death in July 2011, describing the emotional impact it had on Fielder-Civil while he was serving a prison sentence in Leeds. At the time, she said he was “devastated” by the singer’s death and described the bond between Winehouse and Fielder-Civil as intense but ultimately unworkable.
