Amy Schumer experienced the "hardest week of her life" after her son Gene was hospitalised with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
The comedian revealed that she missed her rehearsals for Saturday Night Live after she realised her three-year-old needed urgent medical care.
Taking to Instagram, Amy, 41, gave a "shout out to all the parents" who might also be dealing with poorly kids, as she struggled to juggle her hectic schedule.
Sharing snaps from behind the scenes of the show on her Instagram page, she added the caption: "This was the hardest week of my life. I missed Thursday rehearsals when my son was rushed to ER and admitted for RSV. Shout out to all the parents going though this right now."
She heaped on the praise for her team at work, she added: "I got to be with him the whole day at the hospital and the beautiful humans at @nbcsnl couldn’t have been more supportive."
Amy, who shares Gene with her husband Chris Fletcher, told fans that her son was "home and better", but took time to gush over her co-workers.
"The reason this show is so fun to do isn’t actually the performance or the show itself. It’s getting to spend time with the people there.
"The cast and the writers of course but the people who are behind the scenes making it run smooth are my favorite." [sic]
Author Jessica Seinfeld praised her friend in a sweet reply: "Proudest of you on Thursday than I have ever been. Treating every nurse and doctor with warmth and appreciation whilst you were melting from fear and stress.
"You made the obvious choice to stay with Gene over going to SNL rehearsal that day, and you still managed to absolutely kill it last night. Blown away by you, per usual," she added.
Other parents took a moment to share their sympathy with Amy, with one agreeing that the "juggle is real".
RSV is a very common childhood infection that affects children under the age of two years old.
It has been on the rise in recent weeks and according to Dr. Elizabeth Murray, a paediatrician specialising in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Child Health Advocacy, it's "notorious for causing wheezing and a tonne of mucous in little children".
