Amy Dowden shows 'nice' new boob to Strictly co-star after breast cancer surgery

Amy Dowden showed off her "nice" new boob to former Strictly Come Dancing star Sara Davies following her breast cancer surgery.

The Strictly dance professional was diagnosed with aggressive grade three breast cancer last month and went under the knife for a full mastectomy of her right breast.

Surgeons removed two tumours plus three cancer “specks” and some lymph nodes, before reconstructing her breast, which have now been sent for analysis.

As Amy, 32, recovers from the surgery, she has had Dragon's Den star and series 19 Strictly contestant Sara for support around the house.

Speaking on her Instagram Stories, Amy said: "I’ve gotta give myself a new injection today, and this one’s very different. I’ve got a pen at the moment but this one is like a syringe, isn’t it?

"And I’ve not done it on my own before so guess who’s going to do it with me? You don’t mind, do you? Also, what did I show you last night?"

Sara beamed into the camera: "I got to see the new boob! It's a nice boob."

Amy continued: "Do you know what she said? “You should get the other one done," before bursting into laughter. Sara added: "I just said, that is one good looking boob! Marvellous job! Fantastic!"

Later, Amy explained why she "had no choice" but to undergo the full mastectomy surgery because she had "more than one tumour".

She explained how she was initially told that she would have an tissue expander implant, that gradually expands using salt water to stretch the skin.

But, Amy said she woke up to having the implant rather than the expander, to her surprise.

She said: "For me, it’s a better option because not more surgery etc. I woke up and they’d managed to put the implant in. So I have had reconstruction.

"I believe later on you can have the nipple tattooed – not sure if I’m gonna do that yet."

Amy is not ruling out being back on our screens this year after being announced as part of the professional dancers on the hit BBC One dance show in April.

It will be her seventh series on the show and during an exclusive interview with the Mirror earlier this month, she is using that as her motivation to get back on the ballroom floor.

She said: "If I only have radiotherapy I’ll be back on Strictly this season. Once radiotherapy is done there’ll be nothing to stop me, there’s no pressure but Strictly is leaving the door open. It’s having something to work towards.

"I’m visualising myself on that Strictly dance floor. Just being back in the ballroom with the live audience, the adrenalin and the atmosphere. And the support from the whole Strictly family.

"We can choreograph around me doing things with lifting, putting pressure on my arm. You can adapt."
