Amy Dowden praises 'inspiring' Sarah Beeny over breast cancer documentary

Amy Dowden has praised Sarah Beeny for her inspiring Channel 4 documentary that saw the property presenter bravely let cameras in as she underwent cancer treatment. Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and earlier this year announced she had been given the all-clear.

Sarah Beeny vs Cancer followed Sarah from three weeks after her diagnosis and saw her emotionally talk about having to tell her four children she had cancer. You can read more about this here.

The powerful documentary aired Monday, June 12, and inspired many, including Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden, who recently started treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer herself at the age of 32.

Amy then shared a snippet of the documentary, in which Sarah could be heard telling the camera. "If you got the diagnosis I got eight months ago, my message would just be 'don't be afraid' because amazing people are doing amazing things and the outlook is getting better every day. "

Amy broke the news in May, telling her 328,000 followers: "Hey all, I've got some news which isn't easy to share. I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm determined to get back on that dancefloor before you know it. Welsh love Amy."

When announcing her diagnosis, Amy also shared a candid interview she had done with Hello! Magazine, where she told the publication: "You just don't ever think it's going to happen to you. I hadn't thought it was possible to get breast cancer at my age. My mum has had breast cancer but she had it at a later age, in her 50s."
