The trailer for Amsterdam has just been released and the new film is absolutely packed with stars, including Taylor Swift.
Set in the 1930s, three friends – a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney – find themselves entangled in a murder.
The opening of the trailer sets the tone for the film: Chris Rock, with his usual patter, looks shocked as he looks down on a dead man in a box.
“You’ve got a dead white man in a box?” he says, dumbfounded. “Not even a casket? Doesn’t even have a top on it? Who do you think’s going to get in trouble here?”
Then the scene flashes to Christian Bale and John David Washington as they wheel the box out of the room.
“Do me a favour. Try to be optimistic,” whispers Bale to someone beyond the camera. It’s all fun and all drama.
Amsterdam stars Bale, Washington and Margot Robbie in the lead roles, and will also feature Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldaña, Mike Myers, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro.
That is a lot of famous faces. But as if that wasn’t enough, Taylor Swift also makes a cameo in the trailer.
Michael Shannon (Nine Perfect Strangers), Timothy Olyphant (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Matthias Schoenaerts (Red Sparrow), Alessandro Nivola (Selma, A Most Violent Year) and Andrea Riseborough (Luxor) will also feature in the film.
Amsterdam is the latest film from director David O. Russell, who also directed Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Amsterdam is Russell’s first film in seven years: his last release was the 2015 comedy-drama Joy, which starred Jennifer Lawrence.
Amsterdam is set to be a huge success. As well as having a glittering cast list, Russell has a stellar track record that includes five Academy Award nominations, four Independent Spirit Awards wins and two BAFTA Awards wins.
The trailer release has divided fans over Swift’s upcoming role. Some Swift fans were thrilled:
“TAYLOR SWIFT IS IN A MOVIE CALLED AMSTERDAM?! IM SCREAMING,” Tweeted one.

However others were unsure about Swift’s casting in the film.
“Amsterdam got a great cast had to be ruined by Taylor swift,” said one viewer.
“You know taylor swift is gonna have like only 5 minutes of screen time in amsterdam just like she did in cats right?” said another.

However, there’s still some time to wait before we get to see the film on the big screen: it will be released on November 4.
