Amid disappointment of loss, Virat Kohli's emotional hug to teary-eyed Dinesh Karthik. Watch

NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals' scratchy four-wicket win in the Eliminator in Ahmedabad on Tuesday meant Royal Challengers Bengaluru's sensational second-half run of straight six wins came to heart-breaking end.

The defeat for RCB meant they lost a play-off encounter for the 10th time in 16 appearances.

As hurt and disappointment galloped the RCB camp, former skipper and star batter Virat Kohli was seen consoling teammate Dinesh Karthik.

In what was expected to be Karthik's final IPL season, the loss in Eliminator, shattered the keeper-batter's hopes of winning a title in his supposed swansong.

After the game, Kohli was seen embracing a near-tearful Karthik with a warm hug.

Royals accomplished a nervy chase to stay alive in the IPL as they eliminated Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a four-wicket win.

Electing to field, 2008 champions Rajasthan restricted Bengaluru to a below-par 172 for 8 and returned to chase down the target with one over to spare.

Rajasthan will clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier on Friday for a place in Sunday's final against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai.
