This morning, Tyler Weinrich, one of the four remaining Americans charged with carrying ammunition to Turks and Caicos, pleaded guilty to violating the country's firearms laws. Weinrich is hoping for a similar outcome to Brian Hagrich, another American who was sentenced to a 52-week suspended sentence and a fine, allowing him to return to the United States.
Two of the accused Americans, Tyler Weinrich and Ryan Watson, are scheduled to appear in court today. Weinrich, aged 31, is expected to receive his sentence from the judge. Both individuals are accused of bringing ammunition into the country.
Recently, Brian Hagrich was permitted to return home after being granted a suspended sentence and a fine by the judge. Hagrich, aged 40, flew back to Pennsylvania after the ruling. He claimed that he was unaware of the hunting ammunition in his luggage during his visit to the country.
Reflecting on the uncertainty he faced, Hagrich and his wife mentioned the mix-up with their suitcases, referring to one as the 'Doomsday suitcase.' They expressed relief that he avoided a potential 12-year prison sentence.
