An American woman was so won over by the popular TV series Outlander that she signed up for Tinder Passport and bided her time until matching with someone based in Scotland who shared the same fascination. Much to her joy, an Edinburgh man popped up and the pair hit it off.
With most people using the popular dating app to meet singletons within their area, Tinder Passport allows you to drop your pin anywhere in the world, hence the name, and meet people from different countries. Brittainy decided to do just that in the hope of finding a fellow Outlander fan.
The Scottish Sun reports that it wasn't long before Brittainy met the man of her dreams in the shape of an Edinburgh local who loves the Sam Heughan series. Posting on TikTok, Brittainy said: "Ok so Scottish man story. I downloaded Tinder Passport. I put some pins down all throughout Scotland and matched with one guy.

Brittainy was instantly won over and even asked the man to refer to her as Sassenach, who one of the characters in the show is referred to. She continued: "We started talking, he was very sweet and very kind. We started video chatting and stuff.
"I'm obsessed with his accent. If you're an Outlander fan, you know. I asked him to call me Sassenach. I feel like I was completely stupid to him but he said that he's been to all the Outlander sets and knows all the places to go."
While a lot of Tinder match-ups don't go any further than chatting online, Brittainy was surprised when her new Scottish partner was willing to travel half way across the world just to meet her and explore their relationship further.
She said: "After we'd been talking for a while, he wanted to come half way around the world just to see me which is so frigging cool. I have not been able to have that kind of 'oomph' from a guy before. This guy is going to fly half way across the world to see me.
"Anyway after we've been talking and he knows how much I like Outlander, he's actually having me fly out to see him." She added: "We're going to go see castles and the Outlander sets and I, not even low key, may have squealed in excitement.
"It's been on my bucket list to go to Scotland, now I'm going to go in two months. I didn't think I would go for like maybe six years if I maybe put in effort."
Social media users gushed about how "invested" they were in the blossoming romance. But they were left disappointed just weeks later, with the trip to Scotland now uncertain.
Giving her social media followers an update, Brittainy said: "Things are ok, it kinda fizzled out. Probably the infatuation, on my end. So we kinda stopped talking a little. We still talk every day but not to the extent that we were.
"After I went to get my plane ticket and I had to have my passport expiration date, and I don't have my passport. So I have my appointment to get it, but not until next month. I don't know, it's fine because I'm also talking to a guy who lives in Scotland who is Hungarian, and that's interesting. So there's hot Scottish man now there's hot Hungarian Scottish man. I don't know what I'm doing, I'm having fun.
"How do you date in your 30s? It's weird. It's interesting, but weird. That's why I'm going for Scottish men so I can live vicariously through Claire from Outlander. My expectations are to meet a 17th century Scottish Highlander. That's what I want."
