American Teens Killed In West Bank By Israeli Gunfire

Israeli raid in Tulkarm, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank

Families of hostages in Israel staged a protest on Friday, calling for the release of individuals still held in Gaza. The demonstration took place in Tel Aviv, where families and supporters blocked a highway with an empty Shabbat dinner table, symbolizing the hostages still in Gaza. Currently, 134 individuals remain captive in the enclave following attacks in Israel on October 7.

Separate incidents in the West Bank have also sparked outrage among families, who are seeking answers from the U.S. and Israel. Two Palestinian-American teenage boys were reportedly shot and killed by Israeli gunfire in recent weeks, prompting frustration over the lack of response from both governments.

One of the victims, Mohamed Houdour, a 17-year-old U.S. citizen, tragically lost his life while picnicking with his cousin in the West Bank. Witnesses described the harrowing scene of Mohammed being shot in the head, leading to his untimely death. His family in Cleveland mourns the loss of a promising young man, questioning the senseless violence that claimed his life.

Another American teen, Taufiq Abdel Jabbar, also fell victim to a similar incident in January. The 17-year-old, who had recently moved to the West Bank, was fatally shot while out with friends. Described as kind and outgoing, Taufiq's family remembers him as a beloved brother and friend.

The families of both boys hold Israeli gunmen responsible for the tragic deaths. While investigations are ongoing, the IDF has acknowledged the need to look into the potential involvement of an Israeli soldier in Taufiq's case. The escalating violence in the West Bank amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza underscores the urgent need for peace and accountability.
