American Express opens largest Centurion Lounge at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport

Passengers line up before their flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Have you ever found yourself at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), feeling exhausted and in need of a peaceful retreat before your flight? Well, American Express has come to the rescue with the opening of their largest Centurion Lounge yet on February 14, 2024.

Located in Concourse E near gate E11, this new addition to ATL spans an impressive 26,000 square feet. Inspired by the local area, the Centurion Lounge provides an exceptional experience for travelers seeking relaxation and comfort.

Upon entering the lounge, you'll be greeted by a stunning 50-year-old olive tree, symbolizing Atlanta's moniker as the 'city in the forest.' As you explore further, you'll encounter a captivating 3,850-square-foot sculpture reminiscent of a forest canopy. The lounge also offers several outdoor terraces where visitors can bask in the fresh air. With the addition of heaters and fans, these terraces can be enjoyed year-round.

One of the highlights of this Centurion Lounge is the marvelous artwork created by local artists. Lucha Rodríguez has crafted a textured piece showcasing the iconic American Express watch dog, while Michi Meko has contributed a striking multimedia artwork inspired by Georgia's picturesque landscape. Additionally, a spectacular 60-foot mural by Evan Blackwell Helgeson adorns the interior dining area and extends to an exterior terrace, featuring leaf-shaped motifs.

When it comes to dining, the Centurion Lounge in ATL offers a curated menu curated by local chef Deborah VanTrece. Bringing a contemporary twist to soul food, visitors can savor delectable dishes like Black Eyed Pea Biryani, Za'atar Grilled Chicken Thighs with Green Tomato Chimichurri, and Twisted Soul Salad with Strawberry Peppercorn Vinaigrette. For those with dietary restrictions, vegan and gluten-free options made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients are also available.

Here's where it gets even more exciting – introducing The Reserve by American Express, the Centurion Lounge's first dedicated whiskey bar. The menu, curated by award-winning mixologist Jim Meehan, boasts five whiskey cocktails, including the refreshing Drink a Peach with peach-flavored whiskey and bitters, as well as the sophisticated Mayme, Tailored, featuring an American whiskey combined with ginger beer. If whiskey isn't your drink of choice, rest assured, the fully stocked bar has you covered with ten meticulously selected wines by Centurion Lounge Wine Director Anthony Giglio. And for those seeking non-alcoholic options, a diverse selection is also available.

Of course, the signature Centurion Lounge amenities are present in Atlanta as well. You'll find phone booths, workstations, and ample seating areas for both relaxation and productivity. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi ensures you stay connected throughout your time in the lounge. Additionally, the Centurion Lounge in ATL provides shower suites and premium restrooms, leaving no detail overlooked.

As the busiest airport in the world, ATL sees millions of travelers pass through its gates each year. Luckily for those weary adventurers, American Express has recognized the need for a tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. The opening of their largest Centurion Lounge at ATL brings both the inspiration of the local area and the amenities that make these lounges a cherished haven for travelers. So, next time you find yourself at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, why not treat yourself to a moment of rejuvenation in the impressive Centurion Lounge.
