US comedian Sammy Obeid has said he was detained in Japan for 24 hours and sent back to the US after being denied entry ahead of his scheduled stand-up comedy shows.
Obeid, who has spoken publicly about the war in Gaza and his support for Palestinians, shared the news on social media on Friday, saying he was held in solitary confinement and had his luggage searched for “weapons and drugs”.
