America carries out first execution since Christa Pike's failed lethal injection

A Texas man shot and killed a convenience store worker was put to death on Wednesday evening, becoming the 30th person executed in the US this year.

They were also the first since Tennessee's failed attempt to kill Christa Pike a week ago.
