Snowpiercer's final season is set to make its debut on AMC after the network acquired rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama, including the previously unaired fourth season. Originally airing on TNT, the series faced cancellation in January 2023 as Warner Bros. Discovery network shifted away from scripted content.
The first three seasons of Snowpiercer will be available for streaming on AMC+ later this year, with the fourth season scheduled to premiere on both AMC and AMC+ in early 2025. Ben Davis, executive vp of original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios, expressed excitement about welcoming Snowpiercer to the network, citing its dedicated fanbase and thrilling storyline.
TNT had already begun reducing its scripted programming before the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger in April 2022, and the decision to discontinue such content was solidified post-merger. Snowpiercer was intended to be the final original drama on TNT before the cancellation was announced in January 2023.
Following the cancellation, Tomorrow Studios sought a new home for the series, ultimately finding a partner in AMC. The show's fourth season will be led by showrunner Paul Zbyszewski, taking over from Graeme Manson, who had succeeded Josh Friedman.
Snowpiercer, based on Bong Joon-ho's 2013 film and a French graphic novel, follows the survivors of a frozen Earth as they navigate a class-stratified train circling the globe. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, and others, with Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov joining for the final season.
Season four of Snowpiercer is executive produced by Zbyszewski, Christoph Schrewe, and others, along with the producers of the original 2013 film. ITV Studios facilitated the deal to bring Snowpiercer to AMC for its final season.
