"My elder brother Captain Inderjit Singh who joined the Indian Army in 2006, also got commissioned as an officer in 2017 from a soldier in his service. He always motivated, inspired and guided me. He wanted his younger brother to get commissioned as an officer like him. But he died in 2019 due to septic shock while he was serving with 22 Mahar Regiment in Arunachal Pradesh, due to hostile climate. He died by the time he was brought to the base hospital at Guwahati. Our entire family was shocked and shattered. The responsibility of the family came upon me and then I wanted to maintain the legacy of my brother to fulfill his dreams", said Lt Prabhjot Singh.
Lt Prabhjot said he now feels very proud after fulfilling the dream of his elder brother and is committed to serve the nation till his last breath.
