Amazon shoppers wowed by a pair of budget hair straighteners vowed never to use premium brands again.
While the likes of GHD and Cloud Nine are no doubt the industry leaders when it comes to hair care, they can often be expensive - with the more basic products carrying starting prices around the £100 mark.
And with a cost of living crisis upon us, it's no surprise that people have been opting for more cheap and cheerful ranges, as opposed to splashing the big bucks on premium products. And while some people say you get what you pay for, shoppers have been blown out of the water by a £24 set of straighteners from Amazon recently.
In fact, some shoppers have said that the Remington Ceramic Straight 230 Hair Straighteners S3500 are 'the best they've used', promising never to return to the likes of GHD.
Birmingham Live reports that posting in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group , one woman wrote: "Not sure if anyone has posted these before. But wow for £28 they are by far the best hair straighteners I’ve ever used.
"Always bought ghds. So when mine broke got these till payday. Can safely say I'll never use ghd again."
The featured set of Remington straighteners can be found for less than £25 on Amazon, and the post quickly racked up over 150 comments from like-minded people who had similar views on the product. One said: "When my ghds broke years ago I got Remington but wide plate ones thinking they were a quick cheap fix, I’ve had them now probably 8 years maybe more lol and they’re still fab. Just bought my daughter a pair she loves hers too."
Meanwhile, another added: "I swear by these!!! My ghds broke and I got these to see me through until I got them fixed, and I’ve never used anything else but them since! They’re bloody brilliant!" while a third, went on: "I got Remington after my ghds broke, had them for ages and would never get ghd again!"
And the rave reviews don't stop there, with 75% of the Amazon reviews for the product coming in at a maximum five star rating. While some said that they 'take a while to heat up' they also admitted that they are great 'value for money otherwise'.
While the Remington set work out around £100 cheaper than any GHD starters on the market, shoppers can still go cheaper with the TRESemme Smooth 215 Straightener from Boots for just £20. However, it's worth noting that these only have a two and a half star rating.
