Amazon says The Boys shared universe is officially the Vought Cinematic Universe (or VCU)

The Boys season 5.

The Boys season 5 might be wrapping up the mainline show, but there are plenty of spin-offs to keep the franchise alive.

As it turns out, this shared universe isn't called the Boys Cinematic Universe, but actually the Vought Cinematic Universe (or VCU). That's according to entertainment journalist Jack Shepherd, who was informed of the name by Amazon after interviewing showrunner Eric Kripke for SFX magazine.

"Speaking to Kripke this time, he briefly talked about the expanding BCU… or, at least, I thought it was BCU. But I was wrong. Amazon clarified in a follow-up email after our print deadline that Kripke actually meant to say VCU, or Vought Cinematic Universe. In other words, the whole Boys enterprise has been renamed," Shepherd wrote on his Substack.

Along with Gen V, there's also the upcoming prequel Vought Rising, which will star Aya Cash as Stormfront and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. Beyond that, there are also plans for The Boys: Mexico, and The Boys Diabolical has already been released.

"If Gen V was our take on a coming-of-age college show, then Vought Rising is our tone mixed with a '50s detective show," Kripke has said of the show. "It's a lurid, pulpy detective story, but done in our tone. So really graphic, really profane, lots of sex and violence. It's not a sanitized '50s; it's a filthy '50s. Hopefully, we'll put our tone on an international show, if we get The Boys: Mexico up and going. I'm happy to explore the universe as long as each show clears a particular bar of quality and has that really irreverent tone, which, after Deadpool, there aren't many things that are doing that. We're happy to carry that torch."
