Another piece on the wild offseason NFL announcer carousel is falling into place. Al Michaels will work with Kirk Herbstreit on Amazon Prime Video’s “Thursday Night Football,” according to the New York Post.
Michaels is expected to sign the contract shortly after months and months of negotiations. Michaels will be paid near the Joe Buck neighborhood, according to sources.
Buck signed a five-year, $75 million deal with ESPN to join his longtime partner at Fox, Troy Aikman, on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” Michaels’ contract is for three years.
Meanwhile, in other news, the game FOX Sports will get from ESPN will not be Notre Dame at Ohio State. FOX gets an extra pick in the Big Ten selection process from ESPN and will take the Penn State at Purdue game.
FOX let Buck out of the last year of his contract so he could go to ESPN and broadcast “Monday Night Football” with Troy Aikman.
* The added Penn State-Purdue game will result in millions in extra ad sales for Fox.
* ESPN already has a West Virginia-Pittsburgh game scheduled for Sept 1.https://t.co/JcjXOq5oSW https://t.co/KtJhwLhOUt— John Ourand (@Ourand_SBJ) March 21, 2022
