Amazon launches sale of best-selling, viral products

For many online shoppers, half the fun of finding your goods online is also finding them at a really good price.

The savviest among us know when top sales events take place, which sites have the best deals, and what secondary sites to check to make sure they're getting a really good deal.

And if you shop at Amazon  (AMZN) , chances are you're aware of a trick or two that help get you the best deals.

Some are relatively straightforward. For instance, if you pay the roughly $130 per year for Amazon Prime, you're privy to a bunch of benefits, like free and fast shipping, discounts at Whole Foods, and up to 5% back on qualifying purchases with the use of your (also optional) Amazon Prime Rewards Credit Card.

Entire sites have also been set up to help get Amazon shoppers the best deals. Camel Camel Camel, for instance, allows users to copy a product URL into its website and identify whether that product is currently selling for a good price, and when it's likely to go even lower.

Amazon hosts more sales

If you're an avid Amazon shopper, you've probably noticed that the online superstore has been hosting more and more savings events.

Of course, there's always Amazon Prime Days to look forward to, typically in early July, which sees thousands of items go on deep discount for two days only. The company has recently been hosting an October version of the same event in preparation for the holidays.

More recently, Amazon has been hosting other sales days to cater to more specialized interests. It held a Big Spring Sale event in March, which was open to both Prime members and non-members. It's also hosted a Stuff Your Kindle Event this spring, which allows users of Amazon's Kindle to pack their e-readers with cheap or free books.

More Retail:

And in May, Amazon is holding its new Summer Beauty Haul, which is currently ongoing and runs from May 13-19. The sale has both premium and affordable beauty brands available for deeper discounts than typical and allows customers to receive a $10 promotional credit when they spend $50 or more on beauty products shipped and sold by Amazon.

Amazon hosting new book sale

And on Wednesday, Amazon announced it was hosting yet another sales even, this time aimed at the most avid readers among us.

Beginning May 15 and running through May 20, Amazon is hosting the new Amazon Book Sale event, which will see thousands of best sellers and viral books on sale, as well as some Amazon accessories.

E-books for Amazon Kindles will start at just 99 cents and print books will retail for as low as $4.99. Audiobooks will also be available for up to 80% off. And new users can get three months of Kindle Unlimited for free.

Some of Amazon's tech accessories will also go on sale, with the top of the line Kindle Scribe e-reader and sketch pad 29% off and the Fire tablet up to 40% off. The Echo Show 5 Kids is currently 25% off and Amazon says more deals will drop throughout the event.

Some of the top-selling books on sale include:

  • "Happy Place," Emily Henry: $4.99 (Kindle)
  • "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow: A novel", Gabrielle Zevin: $4.99 (Kindle)
  • "It Ends With Us," Colleen Hoover: $8.49 (Paperback)
  • "Thinking, Fast and Slow," Daniel Kahneman: $8.95 (Paperback)
  • "The Four Winds," Kristin Hannah: $5.99 (Kindle)
