The latest tech gadget from Amazon is helping shoppers reduce their day-to-day electricity costs and manage thermostat readings. Energy bills are expected to rise once more this spring as existing support grants run out.
All households received around £66 a month from the Government to help with rising energy costs but it is due to come to a halt at the end of March 2023. This means households will see a 20% rise in bills as the payments stop, as usual rising costs been a majority of billpayers are looking at ways of keeping the costs as low as possible.
Plug-in appliances are often one of the most expensive gadgets to run at home, especially if they are put on standby for hours on end. Also known as 'vampire appliances' items like TVs, Microwaves, kettles and monitors rack up hundreds of pounds when plugged in at the wall but not being used.

Amazon's newest smart home product will help shoppers keep an eye on 'secret' spending appliances, designed to highlight where households are wasting money and where consumption could be cut down.
The 'Netatmo Echo Show 5 Meross' and the 'Tado Echo Show 5' connect to thermostats and come with energy-controlling plug sockets for everyday appliances.
The kits cost upwards of £150 and include the Amazon Echo show 5 device, which retails for around £50 individually, as well as a smart thermostat and two connected sockets to track energy usage.
The kits are compatible to use no matter the energy supplier, allowing households to control their thermostat and control energy consumption with the smart plugs.
Shoppers have to have a smart meter fitted at home to be able to pair the Amazon device, once set up users are given free acces to Amazon's Loop Energy.
