Amazon gadget that offers 'total peace of mind' now less than £40 in Spring Sale

An Amazon shopper has raved about a bargain find in the Spring Sale that helps to protect your home and offers "total peace of mind".

Whether you're out and about or just chilling in the house, the last thing you want is for somebody to break into your home. Locking the doors sometimes isn't enough, as potential burglars could be scoping out your property without you even knowing.

But installing the right gadgets could make your home feel more secure, as Manchester Evening News writer Bethan Shufflebotham found out after purchasing the Amazon Blink Video Doorbell a couple of months back. It's now in the much-anticipated Spring Sale for a greatly reduced price.

The Amazon device usually costs £89.99 for the doorbell and sync module, and doesn’t require a subscription.

But at the moment, shoppers can pick up the doorbell and sync module in a bundle deal for £58.49 during the limited-time deal, or just the doorbell for £38.99. The Blink video doorbell can manage its own system, but has improved battery life and some advanced features with the module.

Not only does the sync module extend battery life, but you can also start ‘live view’ and take thumbnails in the app. Without the module, you will only receive motion alert and doorbell press notifications, and you must tap a notification within 60 seconds to enter Live View with two-way talk.

If you live by yourself, you might find it nerve-wracking answering the door when you don't know who's on the other side.

But with this handy gadget, you're able to see on your phone who's visiting you, so you can decide whether to open the door or not.

With the sync module, you can store videos from up to 10 other cameras at no extra cost. The doorbell will send motion clips to the module, which can be then viewed through the Blink app or on a computer for up to 30 days.

Amazon does offer a 30 day free trial on the subscription service, after which you can subscribe for £2.50 per month per device, or £8 per month for unlimited devices on a single account.

Another benefit of this doorbell is that it's completely wire-free to install, instead running on two AA batteries, and connects to your Wi-Fi. It also notifies you when the batteries are running low and need replacing.

The Blink doorbell, available in black or white, has a wide camera angle, with an 80 degree vertical lens, and 135 degree horizontal angle. It records in 1080p HD video during the day and with infrared HD night vision after dark. What’s more is that you can set the sensitivity of your camera to notify you of movement. You can lower the sensitivity to only detect larger objects, or heighten it so that it also picks up smaller objects.

Meanwhile, you can disable motion detection for selected regions of the doorbell to prevent unwanted motion clips or notifications.

When someone's at the door, you can use the two-way audio to speak to them, which is useful if you're getting something delivered and want to let the driver know they can leave it in a safe space and you're not home. It's also a great way to deter any unwanted visitors.

Also, if you have an Echo device at home, you can link it to the doorbell so that it announces when someone stops by.

The Blink video doorbell is priced from £38.99 as part of Amazon’s three-day Spring Sale.
