Tonight, it won't just be stargazers looking up at the beautiful night sky. Over the last few weeks Venus has been shining brighter above our horizon as it appears higher in the sky with each passing night.
The planet has continued to do this and tonight (February 23) it has company as it appears to align with the crescent moon and Jupiter. Stunning pictures from across Nottinghamshire show the rare conjunction as the two planets and moon 'cross paths.'
Venus appears at the bottom of the alignment as the crescent moon sparkles at the top, leaving Jupiter sandwiched in the middle. As the month goes on, the moon will continue to pass further from the planets. Jupiter and Venus, though, will be the main visible features up in the night sky for the next couple of weeks.
No telescopes or other equipment are required to spot this astronomical sight.
