Amazing Leeds mum who 'touched lives of everyone' to be remembered in special way

A Leeds mother who touched the lives of everyone and whose death from cancer drew 400 people to her funeral will be remembered at a Gala Ball next week.

Sharon Witcher, who was born in Leeds and stayed there her whole life, died on February 16, 2020, after a very short battle with cancer and was survived by her husband Mark and children Jessica and Jack.

Sharon, who had suffered from achalasia, a rare disorder that makes it difficult for food and liquid to pass from the swallowing tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus) into your stomach, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December 2019. Her family found out within weeks that the cancer "had spread to most of her organs and was in her bones" and she passed away less than three months after her diagnosis.
