A devoted Lady Gaga superfan's partner was supposed to film the gig for her - but instead spent most of it capturing her hilariously 'over the top' reaction as she hysterically sobbed and screamed through the performance. Kelsey Ellison had waited years for a chance to see her idol perform and was thrilled when 32-year-old partner Rain Dove secured the £800 tickets for The Chromatica Ball.
Once at the show in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, Kelsey asked Rain to record parts of the performance. But the 30-year-old turned out to be the star of the video as Rain captured her self-professed 'over-the-top' reactions to finally getting to see the Oscar winner perform.
In clips that have racked up more than 300,000 views, the actor can be seen enthusiastically singing along, waving a light-up fan and even bending over backwards. At other points in the gig Kelsey is caught on camera bawling hysterically and gushing over the Grammy-winning artist, claiming 'this is the best she's ever looked'.
Most viewers appreciated Kelsey's excitement but some trolls have branded her 'annoying', claiming they'd hate to be stuck next to her at a concert.
Kelsey, from Camden, Greater London, said: "I asked Rain to film bits of the concert for me. I didn't want to film because I wanted to enjoy it, but then I watched it back and it was mostly just me. I found it hilarious. I knew I was a bit over-the-top but I didn't realise how into it I was.
"I think I got so emotional because it was a build-up of Covid being rubbish and that I hadn't heard live music like that for such a long time. It was great for everybody to be joined together and having similar experiences, along with the music being played and with Gaga being there in the same room.
"A lot of the people were saying I went through the five stages of grief and I think I agree with them. It was an emotional rollercoaster. It wasn't just me who had that energy - everybody was like that."
Kelsey explained that her variety of emotions was down to a 'build-up' of Covidd delaying the tour making it to London. Kelsey said: "I'm a massive Lady Gaga fan. I've been waiting for this concert for years - it was meant to be a few years ago but COVID delayed it.
"I was also meant to go to the Joanne Tour in 2018 but that got cancelled too. So I've not seen her since The Monster Ball, which was in 2011. I think I just had a lot of pent-up Gaga energy when it came to actually being there.
"I've been a fan of hers since her first album The Fame came out in 2008. I saw her performing on Channel Four and I was like 'this woman has changed my life'. This is definitely up there as one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Her concert for The Fame Monster will always have a special place in my heart though. It's probably a tie."
The video was flooded with thousands of comments from fellow Gaga fans, but some were critical of how she acted. Kelsey said: "Since sharing the video, most people were saying 'This will be me'. A lot of people were in solidarity with my emotions, which is great.
"Then I got some negative comments from people saying 'she's so annoying, I'd hate to be stood next to her'. I'm not scared of being annoying as long as I'm not hurting anyone. I didn't hit anybody with that fan once. I wasn't screaming in anybody's ear - only my partner's.
"The tickets were £400 each, it was money well spent. I had an amazing time. I'm a bit of a misfit so I relate to Gaga a lot, I love her music a lot. Even though a lot of it is pop and dance, it's still very personal and deep.
"I love the visuals, I love her as a person. I love her creative brain - she's really inspired when I'm in my low moments of creativity to get off the sofa and do things. She gives me the power and the strength to embrace who I am. If she hadn't done that, I wouldn't be the person I am today."
