Amanda Staveley has revealed Newcastle United's owners were 'humbled' by the scale of the support from the Toon Army despite the defeat in the Carabao Cup final. It had been 24 years since Newcastle last travelled to the capital for a domestic cup final, and thousands of supporters descended upon the capital for the occasion. Trafalgar Square was a sea of black-and-white on Saturday evening, with chants from the Gallowgate End transported to the capital.
Staveley was in attendance at Wembley alongside her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, co-owner Jamie Reuben and club chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan as the team slipped to a two-goal defeat. The financier consoled the Newcastle squad and coaching staff following the full-time whistle, before confidently asserting the club will eventually go on to lift all three major domestic trophies as well as the Champions League.
