Amanda Peet will "never forget" the moment she received her breast cancer diagnosis.
The 54-year-old actress was diagnosed with cancer in autumn 2025, and Amanda still has vivid memories of feeling "weird" in the months leading up to the news.
During an appearance on the Today show, Amanda shared: "I was in my closet, I was probably putting something on and I felt a weird ... It just didn’t feel like normal skin, but it wasn’t the frozen pea that everybody talks about.
"I went and I even got an MRI and then they sent me away. So I thought I had a clean bill of health, but they were actually watching it."
Amanda went for a routine test six months later, when her usually upbeat doctor "went silent" during an appointment.
The actress subsequently had a biopsy and received her cancer diagnosis.
She shared: "I’ll never forget that moment."
However, because she was diagnosed at stage 1, Amanda has been able to recover.
The actress - who announced in April that she's now cancer-free - said: "I think a lot about how lucky I was in so many ways."
Amanda previously revealed why she decided to keep her cancer diagnosis secret for six months.
The star went public with her diagnosis when she wrote a candid essay for The New Yorker, six months after she received the diagnosis, and Amanda explained why she adopted that approach.
The actress - who has Frances, 19, Molly, 16, and Henry, 11 - told the Smartless podcast: "I think [I kept it secret] because we didn't tell the kids right away ... We dropped Frankie off at college the week before ...
"Most types of cancer it takes a while to find out where you are, like what is your treatability, what kind of breast cancer [it is], how big is your tumour ...
"The waiting is insane-making ... We didn't want to tell the kids for a while until we knew whether I was going to do chemo and what the course of treatment was going to be. So I wanted to keep it a secret because I wasn't even telling my children."
