Amanda Holden and Motsi Mabuse will form part of a line-up of celebrity coaches mentoring a new choir including Welsh singers ahead of their performance in front of the King and Queen Consort at next month's Coronation Concert. A new BBC programme, 'Sing For The King: The Search For The Coronation Choir' will explore how 300 singers came together from different backgrounds to perform at the concert in May.
Some big names are set to mentor the singers as part of the new one-off documentary, including choirmaster Gareth Malone, Strictly Come Dancing judge Mabuse, Britain’s Got Talent judge Holden and actress Rose Ayling-Ellis. The four celebrities will draw on “their individual areas of expertise” to “challenge and inspire the choirs to give a pitch-perfect performance”, the BBC said.
The Coronation Choir’s final group includes among others an all-deaf sign performance organisation, a traditional male voice choir from Caerphilly, Yorkshire’s only female South Asian choir, the London Fire Brigade and a troupe of RNLI sea shanty singers from Portishead, Somerset.
