Amanda Byram rushed baby to A&E after he had difficulty breathing

Former RTE star Amanda Byram rushed her baby son to A&E after he had difficulty breathing.

The 49-year-old ex-Dancing with the Stars presenter surprised fans when she announced she had welcomed son Phoenix Blaze Byram Okines last November with her husband Julian Okines. But speaking on her Instagram this week, Amanda revealed her “stressful week” after she had to bring her son to hospital after he had trouble breathing.

Amanda said that her son had bronchiolitis and that her sister – who is a mum-of-four - was a huge help to her. The presenter said: "What a week. My little monkey is now on the road to recovery from bronchiolitis (had no idea that was even a thing).

"Lots of stressful mama moments, a trip to A&E listening to him breathing with difficulty. Thankfully my sister (mum of four) was on hand to talk me through a lot of it what a totally horrendous feeling when your baba is unwell. Sending love to all parents out there whose little ones are sick as well."

It comes after Amanda recently revealed she and her husband had their first baby free night out together since welcoming their son into the world. She captioned the snap saying: "Mummy and Daddy are out - in an actual restaurant (all of 500metres from home, but still!) for the first time since Phoenix was born!! Of course we have Phoenix with us via NanitCam. Thanks to Nana and Grandpa for stepping in!"

The star keeps fans updated with her motherhood experiences, including struggles with feeding. She said: "Breastfeeding has been such a rollercoaster yet I’m so grateful I managed to hang on, at a point where I was so close to giving up.

"As I write this, I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding my baba for 8 months and counting. Thinking back gives me shivers… after 1 week I was frustrated, after 4 weeks I was in agony and after 10 weeks I was tearful, dreading every feed and filled with anxiety.

"Then, day by day it somehow got easier until after about 16 weeks I realised I wasn’t gritting my teeth before each latch. We finally found our rhythm and now the feeds are my favourite (and his) times of the day."

She added: "Having lived it, I would never ever judge another mother for choosing a different way, happy mummy is a happy baby. "I just always knew this was something I wanted (even if at first my nipples disagreed!)"
