Sherlock star Amanda Abbington feared she had stirred the ghost of Whitney Houston when she stayed in the hotel suite the star died in.
The actress, who says she lives happily alongside two ghosts at home, was terrified Whitney would appear when she stayed at The Beverly Hilton hotel in LA, where the singer drowned in the bath in 2012.
A maid told Amanda that she was staying in the very room where Whitney died, but that it had been “refreshed” with all the furnishings replaced.
Even so, Safe star Amanda began to feel Whitney’s presence during her four- night stay.
She says: “I was going, ‘Please don’t appear. Don’t stand over me singing I Will Always Love You.’ It was really scary.”
But it was not Amanda’s first paranormal encounter.
The actress has two children with her ex-husband Martin Freeman, and when their daughter Grace was a toddler, she made pals with an imaginary eight-year-old girl called Amy in their garden.
To her shock, a clairvoyant later told Amanda an eight-year-old ghost called Amy lived in their home alongside an older lady, who resided in the dining room.
Amanda told Alan Carr on his Life’s A Beach podcast: “My blood ran cold.”
But as well as being spooked, she revealed she was intrigued by the supernatural. She said: “I love it.”
Just as long as they don’t serenade her.
