About 4,633 Amana through-the-wall air conditioners and heat pumps have been recalled because a circuit inside can emit flames if it shorts. The units were installed most often in hotels, apartment buildings, and commercial spaces, which means most of the people sleeping near one do not own it.
Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, of Houston, has received two reports of a component on the control board shorting. No injuries have been reported. An additional 126 units were sold in Canada.
