Amadou Bakayoko's verdict on Bolton Wanderers 'goal' in dressing room reaction to Port Vale draw

Bolton Wanderers maintained thir unbeaten start to the League One season with a point on the road against Port Vale after playing for almost an hour with 10 men.

Wanderers could have taken the lead early on but Dapo Afolayan's effort was parried wide by Jack Stevens. But the Whites were reduced to 10 men when Ricardo Santos was shown a second yellow card.

Santos was shown his first following Nathan Smith going to ground from a corner. But controversy followed with his second booking by referee Ross Joyce which appeared to be harsh after Ellis Harrison appeared to go to ground easily.

After the break, Aaron Morley called Stevens into action with a fantastic save. The Valiants were the more dominant side but Trafford came to their aid with a sublime stop from Harrison as Wanderers held out to claim a point.

But Wanderers should have arguably taken the lead in the first half. Amadou Bakayoko fired at goal from a corner which was cleared by the Vale defence, but images appear to show it had crossed the line.

Bakayoko took to Twitter to suggest the goal should have stood. Along with team mate Aaron Morley, he praised the work Wanderers put in on the pitch and the backing the more than 3,000 travelling supporters gave them.

Along with three 'eyes' emojis, Bakayoko tweeted: "Cleared off the line. Anyways unbelievable shift from everyone today we stick together and keep fighting thank you for the away support massively appreciated."

Morley tweeted: "Boys put in a unbelievable shift today! Focus is on Tuesday now. Big thanks to the fans."
