Amad Diallo names Sunderland as 'preferred' option if Manchester United loan out former Rangers man

Amad Diallo has decided on his preferred club next season - IF Manchester United decide to loan him out once again, according to a report.

The former Rangers loanee had a 12 month turnaround to remember last term as he showed all the qualities Giovanni van Bronckhorst hoped he would have brought to Ibrox as he helped Sunderland reach the English Championship play-offs before defeat to Luton Town - who went up to the EPL - in the semi-final stage.

The 20-year-old thoroughly enjoyed life under former Celtic boss Tony Mowbray at the Stadium of Light and Fabrizio Romano has now indicated he would like a reunion with the Black Cats next season should his future not be at Old Trafford again next term. Erik ten Hag is believed to be ready to give him the chance to impress in pre-season after a stunning campaign in England's second tier.

He tweeted: "Amad Diallo’s future is still open. Man United will make final decision on Amad in the next weeks, he hopes for 1st team chance but it’s up to ten Hag.

"Understand in case Manchester United decide to loan Amad out, the player’s preference would be Sunderland again."

Diallo was named the Young Player of the Year last season during his loan spell and also quickly established himself as a key player and fans' favourite alongside Patrick Roberts.

He netted 14 goals in 43 appearances with some memorable strikes along the way including the final day of the season at Preston and in the play-off first leg clash with Luton.

The Sunderland fans also gave him a standing ovation in his final league game and they seem to have had a real impact on the attacker who is now said to want a return over any other loan moves should United decide that is the best course of action for the attacker.
