Amad Diallo was once again heavily involved for Sunderland as they sparked a dramatic FA Cup comeback win.
The former Rangers loanee has really hit the heights this season playing under former Celtic boss Tony Mowbray at the Stadium of Light after making the switch from Manchester United on loan for the campaign. He arrived in Glasgow close to 12 months ago with lots of promise and potential but the signing never really worked out for now former boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst with the attacker scoring just three goals in 13 appearances for the Ibrox side.
Fast forward to this campaign and in particular the past couple of months and the 20-year-old has really taken his game to the level the Light Blues hoped he would have achieved in Glasgow. The FA Cup has thrown up a number of third round shocks already and Sunderland were close to being one of them until a late comeback at Shrewsbury.
Rangers-linked striker Ross Stewart bulleted home a header from a corner in the second minute of stoppage time to bring the English Championship side level before Diallo played his part by setting up Luke O'Nien for a 94th minute winner to earn an away day at Premier League outfit Fulham.
Speaking after the dramatic fightback, Mowbray said: “Luke is always telling me that he should be on free-kicks and penalties and that he should be taking all the dead balls.
“He’s a wonderful guy with a wonderful personality, from left-back to being in the middle of the opposition box and ramming one in is great credit to him.
“He had the energy and drive to help our team get the result we felt we deserved.”
