New Delhi: Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, three-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and former Union Defence Minister, passed away on Monday morning. He was 83.
Mulayam Singh Yadav will always be remembered for his glorious political career. He was a grassroot politician, who did many experiments in the political arena and tried to give a new dimension to Indian politics. On every plaform including Parliament, he always raised his voice for the rights of the poor, the deprived, other weaker sections and the farmers and many othres. That is why Mulayam Singh is fondly called 'Dhartiputra' (Son of the soil) and 'Netaji'
During the campaign of UP Assembly elections in 2007, senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash interviewed Mulayam Singh Yadav for Doordarshan News on 05 April 2007. This interview was taken in Jhansi.
In the interview, when asked about the issues in this election, Mulayam Singh Yadav said that more relief to poor and farmers, employment to unemployed and to develop infrastructor are the main issues in this election.
To the question that why should people vote for you and your Party again, Mulayam Singh replied that though much 'garbage' has been cleaned, some of it is still left which will be removed after winning this time. He also promised proper supply of water and electricity in Bundelkhand.

Born on 22 November 1939 at Saifai in Etawah, Mulayam Singh Yadav was 8 times MLA in UP, 7 times MP, 3 times Chief Minister of UP, and former Union Defence Minister and Member of UP Legislative Council.
